• The NapaSolano Dental Society was first formed in 1936 when the country was still suffering from the great depression.  In this same year Standard Oil of California discovered oil in Saudi Arabia  and the British proposed a partition of Palestine into a small Jewish state and a larger Palestinian state as a solution to Arab rioting against Jewish presence in Palestine.
  • In this same year the Spanish Civil War broke out led by General Franco against the democratically elected government of Spain.  It became a proxy war with Germany and Italy supporting Franco and the Soviet Union supporting the government Loyalists.  Erest Hemingway, sympathetic with the plight of the Loyalists, covered the war for the North American Newspaper Alliance and Pablo Picasso later painted "Guernica" as a moving image of the terror caused be the German bombing of civilians in that city.
  • In that year, one of the first "drive-by" shootings occured involving a Dentist.  Dr. Jasper Cattuccio, a "young San Jose Dentist" was slowly driving by a prospector with his horses and wagon when he was shot and killed by the prospector  for not paying him for the privilege of taking his picture.  (See photo below from the Los Angeles Times Blog, The Daily Mirror.)
